Brewing news USA, MI: Saucy Brew Works new craft brew spot in Detroit

There’s a new craft brew spot Detroit and it’s located just steps from Little Caesars Arena, Comerica Park, Ford Field and the Fox Theatre, mlive.com reported on March 12.

Saucy Brew Works brewpub and coffeehouse is opening its first Michigan location on Saturday, March 13. It’s located at 2671 John R. Street in Downtown Detroit’s Brush Park historic district.

The restaurant features 15 to 20 craft beers on tap daily along with a variety of baked chicken wings, sandwiches and New Haven style pizza, including its popular Nashville hot chicken pizza.

“It’s our take on New Haven style pizza. It’s thin crust, crispy, sauce to the edge,” said Brent Zimmerman, CEO of Saucy Brew Works. “We just like to be creative what we put on our pizzas, like the Nashville hot chicken.”

Saucy Brew Works has three other locations, all in Ohio. Brew Master Eric Anderson and entrepreneur Zimmerman, both beer fanatics, decided to transform the Steelman Building in Cleveland into their first location before eventually opening in Detroit.

“I love Detroit. It has a lot of similarities with Cleveland,” added Zimmerman. “We decided to take a look at places all over the city before deciding on this location. We’re in a neighborhood that’s very walkable. It’s just a few minutes’ walk to the theatre district and to the sports venues.”

Saucy Brew Works offers specials like BOGO pizza on Mondays, half-off wings on Wednesdays and Happy Hour from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday featuring $4 drafts. The restaurant’s hours are 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. daily. Saucy Coffee is open daily from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

“Whether you like beer or not, we have great pizza and great coffee. This restaurant is just a great community driven place that people feel comfortable at.”
